To establish a first approach with a group of young skaters who gather daily at the Santa María la Ribera Alameda, the documentary Bones Brigade: An Autobiography was shown at Casa Gallina.
This documentary, directed by the filmmaker and legendary skater Stacy Peralta, uses testimonials and stock shots to narrate the story of a professional team of board skaters. It clearly illustrates how a passion for an activity such as this may generate a community and encourage professional development and personal growth.
This activity introduced us to a group of more than 20 young individuals ages 12 to 22 and led to a lively conversation with the participants who also answered a questionnaire to explore their interests. The results will help design a technical training program that addresses their needs and motivations.
