For the first Open Kitchen workshop, invited chef Elena Reygadas demonstrated how to prepare artisanal salsas. Participants were owners of local family restaurants and street vendors who work in the quadrant near La Dalia market and Casa Gallina.

By bringing together proprietors, workers and street vendors from local food businesses, the first workshop focused on creating a network of people interested in expanding their knowledge of food preparation. Participants discussed how to promote a culture of well being within the neighborhood by means of responsible consumption and low-cost, nutritious food with high quality standards.
