Born in Mexico City, Acuña has a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism from UNAM’s Facultad de Estudios Superiores Acatlán. He has worked as a journalist and editor for Emequis, and has been a frequent collaborator of Expansión and Horizontal.mx. He was nominated for the 2013 García Márquez Journalism Award for best feature article by the Fundación para el Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano. In 2014, he received the Journalistic Excellency Award for best feature article by the Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa. He is currently an editor for Chilango magazine, and has collaborated with Casa Gallina as instructor of Heroes and Everyday Events, the second unit of the Participative Journalism Workshop.
