Pedagogical researcher and curator, Mónica Amieva has both a master’s degree in art theory and a doctorate in contemporary philosophy from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, where she has been a professor of art history, philosophy, and esthetics. Her academic career in Mexico City has included the Universidad Iberoamericana, SOMA, the Instituto de Estudios Críticos, and the Academia de San Carlos (UNAM). She was a founding member of the Plataforma Arte Educación (PAE), and as a researcher she is currently dedicated to critical pedagogy in Mexico and Latin America. As a pedagogical curator, she has worked in the fourth edition of the Programa BBVA Bancomer-MACG Arte Actual, at the Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and in the Proyecto Meteoro/Escuelas de Oficios. She is a frequent collaborator in art publications and was the editor for the web page NOSOTROS of the XI Simposio Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo (SITAC) estar-los-unos-con-los-otros. She is currently vice-director of Public Programs at the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC). Mónica Amieva collaborated with InSite/Casa Gallina as a member of the discussion and feedback group for the presentation of Cynthia Gutiérrez’s proposal.
