Gámez earned a degree in Communication and a master’s in Visual Arts at the Academy of San Carlos, UNAM. He has exhibited individually at Nivel 5 at the Sinaloa Art Museum (MASIN) and Casa del Lago, UNAM. He has been involved in group exhibitions at the Julie M. Gallery Toronto, Chopo University Museum, 6ª. Biennial Bourges in France, 7ª Biennial of Berlín and enKopeikin Gallery Los Angeles. He has won the Young Creators scholarship on two occasions, both from FONCA. His work forms part of the MUAC collection and the Center of the Image. He published his first monograph, The Dark Book, in 2009—and the second, The First Day, The Last as a limited edition in 2013.
