Fernando García Correa was born in Mexico City, in1958. He studied art at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura y Escultura La Esmeralda and at the Academia de San Carlos; he then obtained his bachelor of arts degree from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, in Paris, where he lived from 1980 to 1991. His work during the past thirty years has been focused on abstract painting. Since 1986, Fernando García Correa has had thirty solo exhibits in Mexico as well as abroad and has participated in collective shows in Mexico, Colombia, the United States, France, Spain, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Switzerland, and Canada. Public and private collections in Mexico and abroad include some of his work. He was accorded the Acquisition Award of the XII Tamayo Biennial in 2006, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 2010, and the Sistema Nacional de Creadores Grant in 2005, 2010, and 2015.
