Magali (b. Mexico City) studied visual arts at the National School of Fine Arts, better known as San Carlos. In 1977, she had her first solo exhibition at the school entitled Tijeras, which consisted of ten drawings with texts in cartoon style with an artist’s book. She worked with the Grupo Marco and collaborated with the No-Grupo in the 1970’s. She has done residencies at Boréal Art / Nature La Minerva, Quebec, Canada (1999), The Banff Centre for the Arts, Alberta, Canada (2000) and Amate-Boréal Art / Nature Boca del Cielo, Chiapas, Mexico (2002). She has belonged to the National System of Creators of the National Council for Culture and Arts since 1994. Her work forms part of several collections including the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil, Mexico City, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca, the Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst, Gent, Belgium, and Museum of Latin American Art, Long Beach. In recent years, she has collaborated on projects on drawing, digital graphics, ceramics and animation. She currently lives and works in Cuernavaca, Morelos.
