(b. Mexico City, 1971) Olivares is an industrial designer at the Iberoamerican University in Mexico City and graduated with a master’s in design from Modelo University, Mérida, Yucatán. He taught at the same university, specializing in product design from 1999 until. 2013. He has worked with government institutions and civil associations dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of craft production in the states of Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Chihuahua and Oaxaca, offering courses and collaborating with artisans in handicraft production. He has participated in group exhibitions Merida, Yucatan and in Barcelona, ​​Spain. His recent work focuses on management of series production and sculptures using a variety of processes and materials, managing and staging exhibitions in galleries and public and private spaces in Berlin, Cologne, New York, Miami, Austin, Portland, Indianapolis, and Havana. Sergio currently collaborates with InSite/ Casa Gallina in the production area.
