A writer and editor specialized in children’s books, Erdman created and coordinated the children’s Saturday supplement of La Jornada. The Centro Mexicano por los Derechos de la Infancia granted her the 1993 Children’s Journalism Special Award. She was editor in chief of magazines such as Disney Aventuras, Cartoon Network, Barney, and Vagón Literario, which received the 2001 Excelencia Editorial CANIEM Award. She received the 1999–2000 Young Creators Grant from FONCA. She has adapted and translated numerous works into Latin American Spanish. She founded the Escuela Mexicana de Escritores, where she is currently a professor, and she directs the Escuela de Niños Escritores.
