OswaldoRuizOswaldo Ruiz was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, in 1977. He studied architecture at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), and he later became a photographer. He obtained postgraduate degrees in psychoanalysis, philosophy, and art history at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB); and in 2006 he obtained a master’s degree in fine arts at the Central Saint Martin’s College in London. He has been assistant photographer of Graciela Iturbide since 2015. Among his more than twelve solo exhibits are: Nostalgia de Catástrofes (Galería Patricia Conde, Mexico City, 2018); Welcome to Paradise (Fototeca Nuevo León, Monterrey, 2018, and Centro de la Imagen, Mexico City, 2017); Espacio que cabe entre dos tiempos (Galería Heart Ego, Monterrey, 2016); Anudamientos (Museo de la Ciudad de México, Mexico City, 2013); Frecuencia natural (Galería Luis Adelantado, Mexico City, 2011), Oswaldo Ruiz 2002–2009 (Fototeca Nuevo León, Monterrey, 2010); and Last Night (Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, 2010). He has participated in more than fifty group shows, among them: Constitución mexicana 1917–2017.
